  2. IGN: mmelv What Language are you applying for?: French How did your character learn the language? (100+ Characters): Due to her Grandmother’s adamant opinions on being fluent in one’s native tongue, Lenore was consistently taught French, even having daily lessons on new vocabulary within the language. Len was considered a smart child who picked up on what she was learning at a fairly decent pace. After an incident regarding her parents had occurred during her adolescence, her grandmother decided it would be best to take her grandchildren and move to Japan for a fresh start. It was a daunting decision, having to pick themselves up from the comfort of their poverty-stricken home in France and relocate to Tokyo, Japan. More specifically, Kagurazaka, a small area in the center of the Japanese capital. This is where a large French community resides, with many typical French stores and eateries. Tokyo’s “Little Paris.” During the time she still lived with her grandmother, her grandmother was incredibly strict with her grandchildren. She wanted them to retain the French language, and ensure their native tongue was fluid. In their free time, Lenore and her siblings would sit down at the kitchen table reciting, reading, and writing in their language for an hour daily. Every few weeks increased in difficulty. While Lenore struggled at first, she was eventually able to grasp and remember the language. She and her siblings always spoke French at home. As she grew older, a habit began to build up, switching to French whenever she was agitated or surprised. How does this benefit your character's roleplay?: Lenore was born in Corsica; an island in the Mediterranean Sea and one of the 18 regions of France. She had lived in a small home with her parents, grandmother, and siblings. Growing up, her parents had no idea how to raise their children while their time was also being consumed with work to get by, so Lenore was raised by her grandma. French was always spoken at home and almost everywhere she went when she had lived in France. As a young, impressionable child, she picked up on the language the older she grew.
  3. IGN: mmelv RP Name: Lenore Arden Deveaux Age: 25 Character backstory and description (over 200 words): Lenore was born on May 19, 1999, in a very small house in Corsica. The town where she was born was incredibly tiny and was known for being stricken with tragedy and illegal activity. She was born into a poor family, barely being able to keep their small, cozy home. her two parents had no idea of how to raise their children, and they both had to work all day to get by, so Lenore and her siblings, Maxzine and Palakiko were primarily raised by their grandma. Their mother, Adeline, worked at a local café, and Maxzine’s father, Julius was a simple worker in the field, mainly warehouses, etc. Lenore and Palakiko's fathers were never spoken of. Julius had additionally sold drugs to others to bring more money into their house and was a bit of an addict himself. This was something his wife didn’t agree with, so arguments would occur a lot during the night. —— During their youth, Len, Kiko, and Max were constantly working behind the scenes to help bring in money. They discovered their dad’s drug ring through Len’s use of her siblings. Their dynamic was generally close-knit siblings with Len being the brains behind whatever they scheme and plan. Usually, this was due to Lenore’s thirst for knowledge. Kiko and Max never seemed to mind and were always the eyes, ears, and puppets in these schemes as they also shared the knack of wanting the truth. They took many things upon themselves to help their current situation. After they had found out about their dad’s drug ring, the three of them were fighting about ways to get money, Len and Kiko wanted to go the safe route while Max wanted to be more dangerous for bigger collections. High risk, high reward. Their mother soon found out and didn't approve of their involvement so they were quickly stopped. However, Max went behind their backs and began to rob people, scamming them, and selling drugs. One night, a person who Max robbed followed her back home–going unnoticed. The man eventually broke in, attempting to stab Max in anger, but their mother protected her. Adeline took a stab wound to the gut where she bled out, they were too poor, young, and frantic to know who to contact or what to do. Len tried to stop the bleeding with her at-the-time limited medical knowledge, but their mother died in Lenore’s arms. Lenore, having been struck by the realization that Maxzine had gone out of her way–essentially betraying her siblings' trust and their mother’s wishes–was overcome with rage. A madness that Lenore had never felt before blinded her. She didn’t see Maxzine as the sister she once held so close to her heart, instead, she saw her as an outsider, a traitor, a mistake. It didn’t take long for Lenore to leap from her mother’s side, clawing and scrambling her way to attack Maxzine. With no warning and pure shock at her sister’s outburst, she ran outside the house and onto their front lawn. Before Max could even comprehend it, she was now on the dehydrated grass, her sister on top of her throwing uncoordinated punches and screaming obscenities at her. Lenore, being the more active sibling, had a huge advantage over Max. Even as Max tried to throw, punch, or kick Len off, she couldn't. Her hits landed, but by pure adrenaline, Lenore couldn’t feel them. With no other options left, Max bit her sister’s shoulder, hard. Max’s sharp teeth managed to break the skin and cause her sister to jump back in pain, allowing her to wiggle her way from underneath. During the Deveaux sister’s fight, they didn’t fail to bring in attention from their neighbors, who worriedly called the cops. However, the cops took too long, and within another moment, Lenore was back on top of Maxzine, this time, with a broken glass bottle in her hands. Len gave Max a nasty, deep cut over her right eye before she was promptly pried away by an officer. Even when both of them were being detained, she didn’t stop herself from shouting curses, insults, and regrets at Max. Of course, after being hurt by her sister in more ways than one, Max reciprocated the latter’s energy. And then, they saw nothing at all. —— Lenore and Maxzine were both sent to juvie after the incident. they were essentially separated with no chance of reconciliation. While Maxzine was in juvie for two years, Lenore spent three-and-a-half years. Since Maxzine had gotten out earlier, she was left to help her father and Kiko out in his drug ring to earn money for their home. After Lenore had been released, she returned to a home where it felt like strangers living under the same roof. The bond in that small house was broken, and she blamed it all on her younger sister. They stopped speaking to each other entirely while tension between them and their father grew. He condemned his children for the death of his wife. Although Julius and Adeline frequently fought, he still had hoped to grow old with her. Share the life they promised each other, but now, that was all taken away from him. —— Eventually, their father’s drug dealing activity was exposed. After a couple of nights of trying to hide, their father was brought into custody. The income of the family drastically decreased without the help of their father, especially after their father was taken to prison, and their mother was just lowered into the ground. They couldn’t afford the bills for their house anymore, so they eventually moved to Japan for a fresh new start. Their grandma was very pessimistic and upset with their current situation. She was depressed after her daughter died and her husband was taken into custody. Their grandmother was very cheerful and lifting through the entire way, despite her emotional turmoils. She was the peacemaker of the family and hated to see anyone upset, no matter if they were family or not. the Deveaux family handled their situations differently — Len and Kiko were mainly at home most of the time with their grandma and helped out with the chores around the house, despite their grandmother constantly telling them that they needed to go out and live their life. While Max went out, seeing the new country they now called home. —— Not long after they had finally settled in Japan on a steady income, Len and Kiko had decided it’d be best to move out. A fresh start for them. Leaving behind their past and their grandmother wasn’t easy, but they were ready to find their independence and make meaning of their life. Len was decent when it came to academics. She was necessarily the smartest and was slightly above average, managing mostly a’s and a couple of b’s. She was everything at school, She spent most of her free time daydreaming and working to get cash flow into her apartment. Len was simply focused on preparing for the future. An eventful and fun high school life was what she experienced in Japan. Once she got accepted into a college focused on the medical field, she quickly got herself together. Leaving behind that youthful teenage mentality and the constant need to strictly have fun. She was studying to become a surgeon or a doctor. Eventually, Lenore graduated college with a Bachelor's degree in Surgery. She decided it was time to move once again. Back to a country closer to her home country. She did some research, the Tanoa archipelago caught her eye one day when skimming through social media. After working and saving up money for what seemed like an eternity, Lenore packed her bags, peering outside the window as Japan slowly became smaller while the distance between her and such a beautiful country grew.
